Maple Bacon – its better than bacon! It is similar to Pig Candy, but a little tamer and cooked indoors.


  • thick cut bacon slices
  • pure maple syrup (grade B is best)
  • cracked pepper
  • kosher/sea salt (optional)



Preheat oven to 400 for 10 minutes. While the oven heats, line a rimmed baking sheet with foil, and place a rack on top of the foil. Lay your bacon strips on the rack (fat will drain off). Pour some syrup into a small bowl.. with a brush, coat the bacon with syrup.

Sprinkle some cracked pepper and a touch of salt, if desired.

Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes – until desired crispness.
